Card Types

Parallel

An alternate version of a base card with a different color, finish, or serial-numbering. Parallels are rarer than base cards and increase in value as the print run decreases.

A parallel is a variant of a base card that differs in appearance — usually through different border colors, foil treatments, refractor coatings, or serial numbering. Modern card sets typically include 10-20+ parallel tiers, from common (unnumbered) to ultra-rare (1/1).

Common parallel tiers from most to least common: Base > numbered /299 > /199 > /99 > /50 > /25 > /10 > /5 > 1/1. Lower-numbered parallels command exponentially higher prices. A card numbered /10 might sell for 20-50x the base version.

In Panini Prizm, the Silver Prizm parallel is the most iconic — it serves a similar role to Topps Chrome Refractors. In Topps products, key parallels include Gold (/2024 or /50), Orange, Red, and Superfractor (1/1).
